07/01/2026 - Vuelta Del Llano Bike Races

LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) -- Lubbock Sports is excited to welcome the Vuelta del Llano Bike Races hosted by the Lubbock Monterey American Business Clubs (AMBUCS). The two-day event will be held on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6.

The Vuelta del Llano is a three-event, two-day race, which will include a criterium race as well as a road race featuringBuffalo Springs Lake and Yellow House Canyon. The race will also include a challenging 10-mile time trial throughYellow House Canyon on the morning of Saturday, July 5. Participants can pay $95 to take part in all three races. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the event at no cost.

All of the proceeds from the Vuelta del Llano Bike Races will benefit the Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS, which provides AmTrykes to those who otherwise would not get to share in the joys of riding a bike. The organization also awards scholarships to therapy students.

“The fun and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should be able to enjoy,” Jobe Rodgers, event organizer, said.

The criterium race will be a 1.3-mile circuit held at the Lubbock Business Park on Saturday, July 5. The first groups will begin racing at 2 p.m. The top women’s category starts at 5:15 p.m. followed by the 3/4 Men race at 6:05 p.m. and the Pro/1/2 Men race at 7:15 p.m.

The road race will be held on Sunday, July 6, and it will begin and end at Buffalo Springs Lake. The Pro/1/2 race starts at 8 a.m. The participants will cover 73 miles during the race. Spectators will be able to enjoy the race from optimal viewing spots such as the limbs at Horseshoe Canyon, the north side of Yellow House Canyon and the start/finish line at Buffalo Springs Lake.

Lubbock Sports estimates the event will bring around $50,000 in economic impact to Lubbock.
